Anyone needing welfare support should contact the Covid-19 website, says Waikato District Council.
If you’re not sure what help may be available or don’t know who to contact for help, call the free government helpline on 0800 779 997 (8 am – 1am, seven days a week).
The Waikato Council Emergency Operations Centre is up and running so if you are unable to reach the government agency you need, ring them on 0800 492 452.

From a home mowing service who took care of elderly clients’ lawns before the lockdown to others picking up groceries for neighbours unable to make the trip to just chatting on the phone – so far we’re doing well.
