Vandals target toilets

Locals are being called on to keep a lookout for our loos – the nice clean ones out front of Hukanui Park.

In recent months the toilets have been targeted by vandals, says one of the cleaners.

Nothing major, but ongoing acts which add up to ongoing expense, she said.

The soap dispensers have been ripped off the wall twice, toilet roll holders damanged, graffiti inside, the cleaning cupboard door damaged, door hook ripped off – “and we are down on recylce bins.

“We’re just asking for folk to keep an eye out when passing. The toilets get heavy use, especially from motorists and tour buses and we want to keep them as clean and tidy as possible.”
