Coffee cart back where it belongs
Sunrise from the Espresso-To-Go coffee cart – owner Fiona Charlesworth said the view was especially beautiful this morning.
She’s very glad to have her little cart back, nestled in its usual spot on Gordonton Rd. It was stolen last week, but found the same day.
Fiona Charlesworth arrived before 6am last thursday, got the soup on and dropped off scones, then returned home. When her barista arrived at 6.20, the cart was gone.
The thieves were well prepared – “Maybe they were desperate for a coffee and a scone. If they had come and asked we would of given them one,” she told the Waikato Times.
The cart was dumped at Keeleys Landing, off State Highway 1, Karapiro at 8.40am the same day by a member of the public. It hadn’t been broken into but was a bit of a mess inside as it hadn’t been secured for travel.
“We spent the afternoon fixing the damage and cleaning up the big mess and we are so happy to have our cart back!
We won’t let this get us down and will be back at our usual site at 64 Gordonton road at 6.30 tomorrow morning, maybe with some extra locks!” she said on Saturday.
The disappearance of the van caused a stir on social media, and Fiona thanked everyone who took time to share and comment and help find it.
“Your support has been out of this world!”
Number 8 Network is glad Fiona and her van are back in business – this morning’s baked goodies included caramel, cinnamon and walnut scrolls, chocolate chip muffins and cheese scones. Time for us to investigate closer, we reckon!

New meaning to espresso to go defined by hairy-bummed criminals! So glad there was a happy ending.
