The Room 3 Newsroom

Gordonton School held its Calf Club day on Friday, and in addition to the usual suspects (calves, lambs and goats) there was an abundance of cub reporters, eager photographers and sharp-eyed subeditors, as Room 3 became a newsroom for the day.

Expect their report soon – but first, a pictorial preview.

The students were aided and abetted in their roles by Number 8 Network’s Iris Riddell and Annette Taylor, who may give up their day jobs when they saw how talented their young charges were.  Editor Supreme was teacher Nicky Pearce, and fellow teacher Katrina Banks also got to wear the red hat.

First, the newsroom met to discuss its front page lead –

And then they were off, sparkly hats on and pencils sharpened –

This week the reporters, photographers and subeditors are working on their copy, expect the full, exclusive report on Number 8 Network soon. (Most of these pics were taken by Annette Taylor, running to catch up to her eager charges.  The last three were taken by students, Number 8 Network thinks these were by Grace, and knows that the last was by Da Eun – but stands to be corrected.)

Iris and I were SOOOOO impressed at how quickly they grasped the essentials of the various skills – clearly they have a grand teacher, who works at a grand school!

Quite right Katrina, two awesome wonderful teachers. Wish I’d had ones like you when I was a youngster!
